The expedition gives an opportunity to experience the world in its truest, purest form. You will hear how birds sing in the lake district beyond the Hongor Ulengiin Davaa pass, and how the wind carries billions of grains of sand, throwing them on sand dunes. You will see lizards, who having noticed a person, quickly hide in stones of ruin of ancient monasteries. You will see deep blue lakes basins wrapped in the arms of hot desserts; the solitary flight of an eagle against the bottomless blue sky; and how the sun setting behind the mountains gives way to amazingly huge stars. You will encounter treasures of the Great Gobi National Parks and the mysteries of Karokorum, the legendary capital of the Chingis Khan empire. But the true reward of this brave travel around the desert will be the opportunity to enjoy cool and incredibly pure water of Baikal. Type of the tour: jeep-expedition. Day 1 Arrive in Novosibirsk. Instruction in safety measures. The route begins on one of the most beautiful automobile highways of Russia, the famous Chuisk track. Along this road, the scenery changes with head spinning speed and will include views of alpine meadows, mountain steppes, cedar taiga, breathtaking passes, and deep dark precipices of mountain rivers. Day 2Cross the Russian-Mongolian border through the border-crossing station “Tashanta-Tsaganuur”. Transportation to the coast of the most beautiful lake of Western Mongolia, Tolbo-Nuur, surrounded by magnificent mountains. En route, visit picturesque lake Tsagan-Nuur and the village of Ulgiy, which is on the border. Excursion to the city museum, where exhibits of flora and fauna of the region and the traditions of the indigenous people are displayed. Accommodation is in tents. Fishing. Day 3Cross the pass Hongor Ulengiin Davaa, situated between the highest mountains peaks of Mongolia. Travel to the Valley of Great Lakes, where in a small territory mountainous ridges exist next to dozens of salty and fresh lakes, surrounded by sand-dunes. Excursion around the city of Hovd, the historical and cultural centre of Western Mongolia. Visit the largest lake of Mongolia – Uvs-Nuur, and the unique lake Haar –Us-Nuur, home of the rare Mongolian pheasant. Accommodation is in tents on the coast of the lake. Day 4Travel to the Kuisiin Gov Desert. En route visit the indigenous villages of Zereg and Darvi, where native culture is still preserved. Accommodation is in tents in the desert. Day 5 Travel to the small village of Bayantsagaan. En route visit the indigenous villages of Altay and Biger. Accommodation is in tents. Day 6 Travel to the territory of the National Park of Great Gobi “A”, situated in Zaaltaisk Gobi. This National Park includes thousands of kilometers of mysterious desert, where the chances of meeting another human are much lower than the chances of meeting a red wolf, wild camel or Gobi bear. En route, visit the village of Bayan-Under. Accommodation is in tents. Days 7,8Research in the National Park: search for unique natural objects that represent memories of ancient civilizations with a help of a professional metal detector. Visit ruins of monasteries and border towers from the IX-XVII centuries. Watch wild animals. Ascend Atas-Bogd-Uul mountain – observation peak of the region. Day 9 Travel to the territory of Bolshoy Gobiisky National Park. Search for and watch wild animals in their natural habitats. Day 13Travel to the central part of Mongolia – Bayanhongor. Accommodation is in tents close to the village of Arvaiher. Day 14Visit legendary Harhorin, the capital of ancient Mongolian Chingis Khan empire. Excursion around Harhorin, including a visit to the most ancient monastery of Mongolia Erdener-Zuu, which is surrounded by a wall consisting of 108 stuppas. Walk to the ruins of ancient monasteries and towers of VIII-XIX centuries. Accommodation is in tents. Day 15Travel to Ulan-Baator. Visit monastery “Gandan”, where a 26-meter statue of Buddha is situated (it is one of the biggest in the world.) Visit the most popular museums of Mongolia: the Natural History Museum, world-famous for its unique exhibits of complete dinosaur skeletons; and the National Museum of Mongolian history, containing exhibits of different periods of development in Mongolia – from Paleolithic up to the present. Day 16Cross the border in to Russia at the international automobile crossing “Altan Bulag”. Travel to the tourist base “Kultushnaya”, situated on the shore of the pearl of Siberia - sacred Baikal. En route visit the ancient merchant’s city of Kyahta, which served as one of the major stopping places for caravans of the Great Tea Road, and Ivolginsk Datsan, the main Buddhist temple of Russia. The body of Hambo Lama Itigelov, which has not yet begun to decay since his death, is kept on display here. Day 17Travel by picturesque road along Lake Baikal to the capital of the Eastern Siberia, Irkutsk. Festive dinner, devoted to the end of expedition. Day 18 Departure 19,20 дниAdditional days
